Appointed Board Member Vacancy

St John of God Hauora Trust is a leading Catholic, not-for-profit, provider of disability, youth and social services in New Zealand. We currently have a vacancy on our board and invite applications for the position of Appointed Board Member.

At St John of God Hauora Trust we provide important and life-enhancing services to people living with a physical or neurological disability, in both the greater Wellington and Canterbury regions, through our Health and Ability Services division. Our Community, Youth and Child Services deliver a range of programmes aimed at meeting the needs of communities, young people, and whanau in Canterbury.

St John of God Hauora Trust is an operating division of the Australian-based, Catholic not-for-profit health care group St John of God Health Care Inc, which operates hospitals, home nursing, disability support services, and social outreach and advocacy services reaching out to people experiencing disadvantage.

The role of trustee requires a strong governance focus, with responsibility for setting the strategic direction of St John of God Hauora Trust and monitoring the performance of all aspects of the organisation, while taking into account the interests of all relevant stakeholders. Ideally you will have proven experience of, and/or exposure to, the disability sector, and a strong finance background. An understanding of bi-cultural practice and a commitment to the Mission and Values of St John of God Hauora Trust is also required.

The Board will value a candidate able to demonstrate diversity of thought and an understanding of the challenges of the organisation, our residents and the vulnerable young people and their whanau who we work with. Board members are paid an honorarium.
