Nursing excellence recognised

St John of God Hauora Trust wishes to congratulate enrolled nurse Toni Thompson who has become our first nurse to submit a Professional Development Recognition Program portfolio.

Toni Thompson of St John of God Hauora Trust

Toni works in St John of God Halswell's Pampuri Unit, a transitional living facility that supports people living with physical and neurological disability.

The Professional Development Recognition Program is a clinically-focused competency-based program for nurses nationally and is endorsed by the Nursing Council of New Zealand and the New Zealand Nurses Organisation.

Toni enjoyed completing program and said it reflected the work she was doing with St John of God Halswell.

"I really enjoy working in the Pampuri Unit and seeing how we are constantly improving as a service to support our residents to achieve their goals," she said.

The Professional Development Recognition Program is available to all nurses working for St John of God Hauora Trust in both in Christchurch and Wellington and is administered by District Health Boards.

St John of God Hauora Trust joined the Program to support nurses to develop their knowledge and skills, as well as provide a tool to recognise excellence in nursing practice.
