St John of God Bunbury Hospital offers antenatal class for pregnant women to learn natural techniques to assist them manage the pain and discomfort of labour.

The Positive Birthing classes focus on teaching women best practice complementary therapies for birth such as breathing and relaxation techniques, acupressure and yoga techniques.

Positive Birthing program helps women understand how they could use these techniques alongside other birth interventions including induction and pain relief. The skills and knowledge aid women, and their birth partner,  to remove the fear and tension that naturally comes when preparing for the birth. 

The classes are designed to assist women to have a gentle and relaxing birth by using calming techniques such as visualisations, music, self-hypnosis and relaxation.

The classes are certified by Hypnobirthing Australia and are facilitated by a hypnobirthing practitioner and childbirth educator.
